Sharyn is passionate about teaching piano. She instructs students individually in both popular and classical music. Sharyn customizes a study course to each of her students’ individual interests and musical tastes. Each student is supported as they learn at their own pace. She is well-known in the South Bay as warm, supportive, and beloved by her students.
Sharyn teaches children, teens, and adults of all levels. Her students encompass a wide variety of ages and technical levels, from younger children learning piano as a first instrument, to intermediate and advanced students interested in further progression, to adult students who are new to the piano or returning after a break.
Sharyn transforms students who have stalled in their abilities or enthusiasm to reach advanced levels in piano performance by teaching music theory and sight reading skills that are often overlooked by other methods. Her students excel at reading music on sight and without hesitation. Her methodology emphasizes music theory, note reading, correct fingering and posture, and perfection of technique, tone, and phrasing.
Many of her students start at an introductory level and progress to advanced levels. Some of her students and their families have studied with Sharyn continuously for ten or fifteen years.
Sharyn’s child and teen students participate in annual piano recitals showcasing and recognizing their accomplishments.
